Wendell Simmons baseball field has been home to the University of Central Oklahoma’s baseball team for more than 60 years.
The ballpark underwent significant renovations following the 2017 season. The field was completely leveled, as was the outfield fence. A new wall was constructed and new turf installed before the beginning of the 2018 season. UCO also added a clubhouse with coaches offices, a locker room, concessions and public restrooms before the 2020 season.
It was renamed Wendell Simmons Field in honor of the long-time coach who retired in 2010. Simmons put together a 633-374-1 record in 19 years at UCO, including a 363-151-1 mark at home. He was instrumental in earlier renovations on the field, doing much of the work himself.
Dimensions are 330 feet down the right field line, 340 feet down the left field line and 390 feet to center field.
Wendell Simmons Field is located on the north side of campus just northwest of Chad Richison Stadium and just west of the Sports Performance Center.
